Hord Livestock Co., Inc. and sister company Hord Family Farms, LLC. is a family owned swine, beef, and grain operation located in North-Central Ohio (with a satellite farm in Mercersburg, PA) that is dedicated to "Feeding Families through Sustainable Food Production." The HORD team is nationally known for our world class swine production and are currently looking for individuals to add to our team. This position offers full training, opportunities for promotion and encompasses all aspects of animal husbandry. No prior swine experience is needed and you will work in a climate controlled environment.
Job Details: This key position is responsible for the daily care, health, and maintenance of all sows and piglets to assure optimum productivity. This person will assist where needed working with animals and light facility repair and maintenance.
This is an entry-level opportunity that provides hands-on experience in areas such as:
Breeding and gestation
Record keeping
The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with pigs, a willingness to learn, a high level of dependability as evidenced with a solid work history, and a proven record of drive for excellence.
Adhere to bio-security, animal well-being and safety policies
Care and management of animals and facilities
Perform various tasks associated with herd production such as:
Vaccination of sows
Power washing
Heat detection
Artificial insemination
Pregnancy checks
Vaccination and castration of piglets
Familiarize oneself with department/unit/company objectives and measure progress through record-keeping protocols
Education: Basic math and reading; knowledge of swine husbandry and basic maintenance preferred
Experience: 0-1 years of previous livestock handling; candidates must not currently own or have daily contact pigs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Display a high level of respect to team members and animals
Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
